Little Chicks Rice Krispie Treats for kids are so easy to make and is also a nice activity for Easter. They are cute, bright and yellow, just adorable!

Are you ready to have some fun? Let’s begin.

Before we start, grease two bread pans with butter and set aside. Now, in a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter and add mini marshmallows to the pot and stir to melt and incorporate with butter (don’t worry about the color).

Remove the pot from the heat and add the Rice Krispie cereal. Mix well, and portion the batch of cereal, marshmallow, butter mixture between the two pans. Press the cereal firmly and evenly into bread pans (I use a rubber spatula).

It’s time to prepare the colored coconut!

Add 2 cups of coconut to a canning jar and a 1⁄4 tsp of yellow gel food color. Place lid on the jar and shake vigorously.

Add more gel color to achieve the desired color vibrancy (there should be pops of bright yellow and pale yellow as well). Empty the coconut into a shallow bowl and prepare the double boiler by adding water to a large pan that will hold one large mouth pint canning jar and a small dish. Heat on low temperature.

Place the melting chocolates in the jars, along with 1⁄4 tsp coconut oil, and stir occasionally.
Cut the rice treats into 2 1⁄2” x 3” and carefully remove from the pan.

With your hands, compress and form the treats to create a more rounded appearance at the corners. Just like in the picture below.

Now, dip it into the yellow melting chocolate and immediately cover the chick with yellow coconut. Set it on a wire rack to dry.

Place the candy eyes on each chick by adding a small dot of yellow melting chocolate to the area and immediately add the eyes. To make the beak and feet, you can use a toothpick dipped in orange melting chocolate or add it to a piping bag.
